Africa need to embrace democracy but need to understand that it would best serve them with their culture and not western culture. Reasons are because the economic, political with basic modern social infrastructure are different and the call is equally expensive. Democracy demands ability to listen to the people not the person. Democracy is a clear and understanding principles to integrate humans to enhance peaceful coexistence with our neighbors. Democracy stimulates trade and respect to human right value with the aim to make every citizen valued and respected. Democracy is not design to abuse of power.
I think it’s wrong for African countries to limit the term of a presidency to first four years and the second term to another four years as being the norm in most western countries who for years were able to built strong economic infrastructure to maintain good society for her citizens. Past records revealed that inability to execute and deplore within time frame to achieve any lasting economic and advancement to the well fair of Africans has translated to massive migration to a better sustainable economy and poverty at alarming rate with a vast natural deposits which should have turn this around. The continent need to understand the power of time management and need to stop and revisit the policies that make them feel that within such a short period of time they will at any point achieve a reputable growth, which in most cases are disrupted by change of government through a democratic votes or wars. Realistically its unfortunate to present the facts that you put much to be achieved without existing economic social infrastructures upon the elected government. Four years for a developed country makes a reasonable term because the economic path ways are in place, making the policies without considering the implication to honest commitment that this individuals would do a magic with limited economic and social infrastructures put the continent to various default without understanding their problem.
Short presidential term frames and ongoing corruptions in these regions could be attributed to wrong timing to validate democracy’s effectiveness . I strongly believe the democracy is designed to benefit the people in its original values, though there are a lot of global misconception about the operator now. It can be used to achieve stable peace and prosperity in the region. The value of African culture should try and incorporate democratic system to be able to be a fine player of this global economic trade, Africans can change very fast and survive if the deployment of time appropriations to achieve fruitful results by allowing their terms to be extended. It is obvious the power of speed to adopt in new economical stimulations will incorporate common sense. I propose one term system that allow any democratic government in Africa for six years only but for one term. This will give the system an opportunity to execute a six years plan from a good leader willing to direct the affairs of the state. If a leader comes with a program and unable to finish the next person can also carry on without unreasonable change if it works. Not like President Trump coming to repeal even beneficial and properly designed project in line to USA constitutional value just for a personal pride. Better planning will inspire the people and promote economic stability for your country through good managers will translate a better people and happy Africa. Africans are lacking in modern infrastructures and economic growth. The resources coming from Africa is making other countries rich and comfortable. Wake up Africa
Be bold and build a new Africa with vision for generations to come. Build, not wars amongst yourselves.
